Cartier Adds Enthusiasm to Classical Elegance
New Colours for the Oldest Pilot
The next in the line of historical pieces is the Santos Dumont. It is the first pilot’s watch of the watchmaking industry from 1904 that excites in its every iteration. This time, the creative process took place not only on the dial, where the pattern also appears hypnotic, but they also placed the matching colour on the upper part of the case.
The burgundy red spills over the case made of platinum and black over the case made of steel. In this respect, the Santos Dumont in gold is somewhat more restrained and bears the beige colour only on the dial. New apparel was also given to the Santos de Cartier, which will be available with the PVD blue bezel.
If watchmaking brands were to take to the red carpet, Cartier would be the brightest among the stars.
Intertwining of Circle and Rectangular
Exceptionally eye-catching is the new Pasha de Cartier Grille in yellow gold. Decades ago, the watch got its name after the Marrakesh leader Thami El Glaoui, who simply adored this brand. The greatest peculiarity of this watch is a safety guard above the dial which can be removed by pressing the guard towards the glass and turning it 90 degrees. The round case is thus elegantly intertwined with the rectangular minute markers and lines of the guard or retains the watch’s classical elegance even when the guard is not in place. The Pasha de Cartier is also available with the steel case.
For those who prefer round shapes, the renewed Ballon Bleu de Cartier in pink gold with a ‘sunburst’ dial and a charming arrangement of diamonds on it is the right choice. Even more glamour can be found in the Coussin de Cartier line, in which the cushion case emphasises the glitter of diamonds.
Black Elegance for Tank Must
After three new colours were added last year to the legendary Cartier Tank line, it is this year wrapped in black. The new Tank Must with polished black dial has accentuated the inscription Cartier and the Swiss Made mark at the bottom. An elegant watch in an elegant colour. It is available in two sizes and in a case made from steel or yellow gold, measuring only 6.66 millimetres in height.

The Play of the Hypnotic Dial
While the Tank Must model preserves its minimalism, its predecessor, the Tank Louis Cartier, plays with the patterns on the colour dial. A special electrochemical engraving technique was used that creates an almost hypnotic image.
The engravings give a false feeling that we are looking at various hues even though the dial only displays one colour. A similar graphical pattern was first used in the 1980s on the Must de Cartier.
