Aikon Tide for the Taste of Summer and Clean Oceans

Sports watches with an integrated strap have been a favourite among watch enthusiasts for many years. In this segment, Maurice Lacroix offers an incredible ratio between price, precision, and comfort brought about by the Aikon Collection. It is a flagship of the Swiss brand that has been reaping one success after another since its launch in 2016.

The New Sharpness

With the Tide Collection, the famous design of six double edges on the bezel receives new sharpness. The combination of vivid summer colours presents watches with freshness you can almost feel. Not only because of the lightness of its case made of a composite material, which is twice as hard and five times as durable as standard plastic; but also due to the fact that each Aikon watch and its packaging will free the ocean of 17 plastic bottles.

An Environmental Commitment

In this collection, Maurice Lacroix collaborates with the Swiss company #tide, which gathers plastic from oceans and turns it into a reusable raw material. The production of the watch’s case from this composite material also has a significantly gentler impact on the environment. The Swiss watchmaker also made a commitment to make a financial donation that will free the ocean of 10 million plastic bottles.

Hence, it is not only an empty message about a greener future, but rather a small, yet brave step in the right direction.

While the Aikon Collection is known for its ‘Clous de Paris’ chessboard dial, the Tide collection is found in the ‘Vague du Jura’ motif, the shape of which clearly references the ocean. The wavy linear lines of the dial evoke waves and a little bit of imagination also conjures up swimming fish.

It is set into the 40-millimetre case that reaches a thickness of 11 millimetres. The sapphire crystal, similarly to that in models of a higher price range, augments readability.

Diamonds - A Touch of Glamour

One of the main advantages of this collection is its wide colour selection. You can choose from 10 colour combinations that bring to mind summer pleasures with their youthful playfulness. Five models have a black bezel, accentuating the colour contrast and adding a flair of drama. For those who seek a touch of glamour, the collection offers four colour combinations with 44 individually set diamonds. The date display is found at the three o’clock marker while a Swiss quartz movement with a five-year warranty ticks inside.

The wrist is embraced by a matching rubber strap in models with the black bezel. The brand paid close attention to detail: under the six o’clock marker is the brand’s abbreviation ‘ML’. Thanks to the simple system the strap is removed and exchanged effortlessly and quickly. The brand does not shy from revealing its plans for the future and announces that soon a bracelet made from the upcycled composite material will also be available.
