Pilot DNA of the Navitimer Collection
The model from 1952 was presented by Willy Breitling and was adopted two years later by the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA). Due to its exceptional popularity, it was designated their official timepiece. It was named the Navitimer, a word formed from ‘navigation' and 'timer’. In honour of pilots, Breitling added wings to its dial, which remained the logo of the Swiss brand for a long time. Now, it returns in its original form.
For a perfect walk through history, the Breitling Navitimer Collection continues its logarithmic scale known as the ‘slide rule’, stick markers and hands, three chronograph subdials, and a serrated bezel. Alternating polished and brushed elements give metal elements their shine, yet retain the right degree of simplicity. The illusion of a compact profile is created by the domed crystal and slightly more flattened slide rule. The date display was skilfully fitted into the bottom subdial at the position of six o’clock.
Contemporary Dial Hues
The collection expanded with the case sizes of 46, 43, and 41 millimetres, made from stainless steel or red gold, reaching a thickness of just under 14 millimetres. The timepiece engine is the house movement Manufacture Caliber 01, which meets the chronometer standard. Fully wound the watch will continue working for no less than 70 hours. The glass on the back side enables an insight into the depths of the movement and the rotor adorned in a silhouette.
The choice of colours also indicates that Breitling with its new Navitimer combines the best of the past and the present. In addition to the tested classic black and grey, the brand offers dials in contemporary hues of blue, green, and copper colours. You can choose from no fewer than 13 different dials, which is proof that the celebration of its 70th anniversary is not only a refreshment of an old icon, but rather a well-planned out path for its exploits in the decades to come.
